Golf Stress - Self-Hypnosis Helps
Golf Stress goes by many different namesבFirst Tee Jitters.’ ‘The Yips.’ ‘Choking When Ahead.’ No matter the name, it is the same thing. It is fear—fear of failure or fear of success. What can you do to keep this fear from taking over? There are two important strategies:
• Distract your Conscious Mind
• Educate your Subconscious Mind
You can recondition your Conscious Mind by engaging your Subconscious Mind. The problem starts by what you tell yourself—what you focus on. “What if I do not make this putt, I will be the laughing stock.” Or you might think that using logic will make it better, “I will use an old ball on this tee, so if I hit it into the water, it won’t be so bad.” You get what you focus on—your ball in the water. Why do you get what you focus on? Because your Subconscious mind only knows, ‘What To Do’ thus, like a computer ‘not’ or ‘don’t are filtered out. Your Subconscious mind hears ‘lake’ and processes it as “into the lake.’
Focusing on “What To Do’ will give you the edge you want. Focus on where you want the ball to go—in the cup. Focusing on what you want is a universal law—The Law of Attraction. It works on drives, pitches over sand traps and putting as well. Focus on the target. It works in life as well.
You need to distract your Conscious Mind. Fuzzy Zoeller whistles. You can think peaceful thoughts or use self-hypnosis.
For some people it is easy to use self-hypnosis, others find they need the assistance of a hypnosis practitioner to learn the process. Once you have learned the process you can readily use self-hypnosis at will.
When you distract your Conscious mind and educate your Subconscious Mind, you will eliminate golf stress. And if your partner says, “Watch for the water on the right, you will know to focus on the ball landing in the cup.”
